However, it is essential to systematically clean these dust collector filter elements for optimal performance. One of the best methods to achieve this is known as pulse cleaning. What Is Pulse Cleaning?

As the name suggests, pulse cleaning uses pulses or bursts of compressed air to remove the caked dirt and debris from dust collectors and industrial filters. The bursts of air are usually concentrated around the center of the filter for maximum effect. However, the process has some important considerations. For instance, the blast of air must be strong enough to remove the caked-in dust, but must not be too forceful, for it could potentially damage the filter element. 

With these considerations, the best pressure for pulse cleaning is around 90 to 100 psi in most cases. In some cases, cleaning can also be commenced by reversing the direction of air flow, known as reverse pulse cleaning.

Types Of Pulse Cleaning

Continuous Pulse Cleaning

In this type of pulse cleaning, the system is programmed to send out pulses of air at a fixed time interval. This system is best-suited for removing lightweight dust or particles such as silica.

On-Demand Pulse Cleaning

Instead of activating pulse cleaning at a fixed time period, on-demand pulse cleaning activates when the pressure of the filter element goes beyond a certain limit and stops when the pressure reaches required levels. This method is slightly more advantageous than continuous pulse cleaning as it uses less compressed air.
